What is 3D/4D ultrasound?
3 Dimensional (3D) ultrasound captures images of your unborn baby in
color and 3 dimensions, not like the 2 dimensions in black and white that you have seen in the past. 4 Dimensional (4D) ultrasound takes 3D a step further and shows your baby moving in 3D. Sometimes you will see your baby
moving and other times you will see him or her sucking their thumb or even
look like they are dancing on the inside of your tummy.
Is ultrasound safe?
Ultrasound has been around for over 35 years now and after many
studies, there has been no indication of any negative impact or harmful
effects to mother or baby. Our ultrasound machine is similar to the one used
in your doctor’s office.
Who will be performing my ultrasound?
Your ultrasound will be performed by an ultrasound technologist
registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and who has over 17 years experience. She also has extensive training in 3D/4D ultrasound imaging.
How far along should I be to have my ultrasound?
When you want to schedule you ultrasound is a matter of choice for you. We can determine
the gender of you baby anytime after 17 weeks, but the optimum time to see the baby’s face with full cheeks is 25 to 31 weeks of
your pregnancy. When you are very close to delivery it is much harder to
see the baby clearly.
How long does the ultrasound take?
The length of the ultrasound session is determined by the package that
you select. You can expect to spend from 20 to 50 minutes at the office depending on your package selection.
Can I bring family and friends with me?
Yes, family and friends are encouraged. We have a large room with comfortable seating for 8 to 10. We also have a large viewing screen that is easy for all to see.
Will I be able to determine the gender of my baby?
In almost all cases we will be able to determine the gender of your baby if you are 16 weeks
along or further. If you want to know the gender of your baby and we are not able to tell at the
time of your session, then we will
bring you back at a later time for a “quick Look” at no additional charge to
you.
Is there anything that I can do to ensure
getting a good image?
We cannot ensure you of getting a good picture. If the baby is lying in
the wrong position and will not move around, then you may not get the optimum images. If this were to happen, then we would schedule you back
to get a better view, free of charge.
One of the things that you can do to help get better and sharper images
is to drink the recommended amount of fluid daily
that your physician has talked to you about, especially the 5 or 6 days prior to your appointment.
Do I need a full bladder?
No, these pictures do not depend on you having a full bladder. However, you should drink the recommended amount of fluid each day that your
doctor has recommended to you.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, all ultrasounds are done by appointment only.
Is my ultrasound covered by insurance?
No, this is not a medical procedure. This is a fun and enjoyable time that lets you see your baby in the womb and get photographs and videos of this experience.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We acceptVISA, MASTERCARD and AMERICAN EXPRESS.
Also cash, checks and money orders are acceptable.
